Safeguarding the Future of Catholic Education
The McMahon Parater Scholarship Foundation was established in 2008 to sustain and ensure the future of Catholic education in our diocese. What began with an endowment from then-Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo has multiplied since our founding with generous support from the faithful across Virginia.
Helping Your Gift Go Further
Since the founding of Virginia’s Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits program in 2012, MPSF has helped generate over $65M in scholarships, opening doors for students and strengthening Catholic schools across the diocese.

Our Mission
Our Mission
Catholic schools nurture personal growth, scholarship, life-long learning, service, and responsible stewardship through a faith-centered way of life. The McMahon Parater Scholarship Foundation seeks to support low-income families with tuition assistance, regardless of religious background, so all children have an opportunity to learn in a safe and nurturing environment at a Catholic school.
Our Values
Our Values
Catholic schools spark curiosity and courage in every student. They show how faith guides decisions and shapes character. The McMahon Parater Scholarship Foundation fuels this spark through collaborative stewardship with schools and the faithful to ensure that Catholic schools remain the educational choice for the future.
Funding Priorities
